# Can I map First and Last name in the CSV import or not?

### Issue
When importing a CSV file into the CRM, customers may have their contact names split into two separate columns (e.g., "First Name" and "Last Name"). During the column mapping step, they can map "First Name" to the **Name** field, but there is no separate **Last Name** field available in the CRM to map the second column to — only "Select a field" appears as an option.
### Cause
The CRM uses a single **Name** field for contacts rather than separate first and last name fields. As a result, there is no destination field for a standalone "Last Name" column to map to.
If the "Last Name" column is left as "Select a field" during import, **the last names will not be imported** and contacts will only have their first names saved.
### Solution (or ask Claude or ChatGPT to do it for you)
Before importing, the customer must consolidate first and last names into a single **full name** column in their CSV file.
**Steps:**
1. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet tool (Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, etc.).
2. Create a new column called `Full Name`.
3. Combine the first and last name columns into the new column. In Excel/Google Sheets, use a formula like: `=A2&" "&B2` (assuming First Name is in column A and Last Name is in column B).
4. Copy the values, then delete the original "First Name" and "Last Name" columns (or simply leave them unmapped).
5. Re-upload the updated CSV and map the new `Full Name` column to the **Name** field in the CRM.
