# How to Customize the Create People/Company/Deal Form

Control which fields appear when you create a new record by toggling the "Show in Create Form" setting.

## Overview
When you click **New Company**, **New Person**, or **New Deal**, Breakcold displays a creation form with a default set of fields. You can customize this form to include additional fields so you can fill in more data right at the moment of creation.
This is done per-field through the Object settings. For each field, you can toggle whether it appears on the create form or not.
* Works for **People**, **Companies**, and **Deals** objects
* Each field has its own **Show in Create Form** toggle
* Changes take effect immediately after saving
## Step 1 — See the Default Create Form
Start by opening the create form so you can see which fields are currently displayed. For example, go to **Companies** and click the **New Company** button in the top-right corner.

The default New Company form shows only Name, People, and Website fields.
| Note — By default, the create form only shows a few core fields. Any additional fields you want to fill in at creation time need to be explicitly enabled.
## Step 2 — Navigate to the Object Settings
1. Click the **Settings** gear icon in the bottom-left sidebar.
2. Under the **Data** section in the left menu, click **Records**.
3. You will see the **Object** page listing all your objects: **People**, **Companies**, and **Deals**. Click on the object whose create form you want to customize.
The Object page lists all system objects — click one to configure its fields.
## Step 3 — Open the Fields List
After clicking on an object (e.g. **Companies**), scroll down to the **Fields** section. This shows all the fields available for that object, along with their type and slug.

The Fields section shows all fields for the object — click any field row to edit it.
| Tip — Fields with colored badges like System, Unique, or Create Form indicate their current configuration at a glance.
## Step 4 — Toggle "Show in Create Form"
1. Click on the field you want to add to the create form (e.g. **LinkedIn**).
2. In the **Edit Field** dialog, find the **Show in Create Form** toggle.
3. Turn the toggle **ON** to make this field appear in the create form.

The Edit Field dialog — toggle "Show in Create Form" to ON.
| Note — The Edit Field dialog also lets you configure other settings like Required, Hidden, Use as Unique Identifier, Computed Field, and Default Value Template.
## Step 5 — Save Your Changes
Click the **Save Changes** button at the bottom of the Edit Field dialog to apply your settings.
Click Save Changes to apply the new form configuration.
## Step 6 — Verify the Updated Form
Navigate back to your records list and click **New Company** (or New Person/Deal) again. The create form will now include the field you just enabled.
The updated create form now includes the LinkedIn field.
| Tip — To remove a field from the create form, repeat the same steps and toggle Show in Create Form back to OFF.
## Frequently Asked Questions
**Can I add multiple fields to the create form at once?**
Yes. Open each field individually, toggle "Show in Create Form" on, and save. Each field is configured independently.
**Does this work for People and Deals too?**
Yes. The process is identical — go to Settings > Records, click on the People or Deals object, and configure each field the same way.
**Will enabling "Show in Create Form" make the field required?**
No. The "Show in Create Form" and "Required" toggles are separate settings. A field can appear on the form without being mandatory.
**Can I customize the create form for custom objects?**
Yes. Any object that appears on the Object page (including custom objects) can have its create form fields configured in the same way.
