Can You Create Custom Objects
Yes — Breakcold lets you create fully custom object types beyond the built-in People, Companies, and Deals, so your CRM fits exactly how your business works.
Overview
By default, Breakcold comes with three system objects: People, Companies, and Deals. But your business might also need to track Products, Projects, Partners, Investors, or any other type of record.
Custom objects work exactly like system objects — they get their own record list, sidebar entry, fields, and filters — but they're entirely defined by you.
Step 1 — Navigate to Records Settings
- Click Settings at the bottom of the left sidebar.
- In the Settings sidebar, click Records under the Data section.

The Records page lists all existing objects. System objects (People, Companies, Deals) are locked with a padlock icon — custom objects you create will appear here too.
Step 2 — Open the Create Object Modal
- Click the + Create Object button in the top-right corner of the Records page.

The "Create Object Type" modal opens with fields for name, slug, icon, and color.
Step 3 — Fill In the Object Details
The modal has four sections to configure your new object:
Singular Name
Used for a single record — e.g., Product, Project, Partner.
Plural Name
Used in lists and navigation — e.g., Products, Projects, Partners.
Slug
Auto-generated from the plural name. Used in URLs and the API. Lowercase only.
Icon & Color
Choose a visual icon and accent color to identify the object in the sidebar.
- Enter a Singular Name (e.g.,
Product). The Plural Name and Slug will auto-fill as you type. - Adjust the Plural Name if needed (e.g.,
Products). The Slug updates automatically to match.

Example: entering "Product" auto-fills the Plural Name as "Products" and the Slug as products. The slug is used in URLs and the API.
- Select an Icon from the icon grid — scroll to see more options.
- Pick a Color from the color palette to visually distinguish your new object.

An icon and color are selected — the object is ready to be created. Click Create to confirm.
Step 4 — Create the Object
- Click the Create button. Your new custom object is created instantly.

The "Object type created" confirmation appears and your new object — here Products — is added to the list with a Custom badge, 0 records, and 5 default attributes.
Default attributes: Every new custom object comes with 5 system fields out of the box (Name, Created, Updated, Tasks, and Notes). You can add more custom fields at any time from the object's settings page.Step 5 — Reorder Objects in the Sidebar
You can drag and drop objects in the Records list to change the order in which they appear in the sidebar.
- Hover over any object row to reveal the drag handle (⠿) on the left. Drag it up or down to reorder.

Custom objects can be freely reordered in the list — their position determines how they appear in your sidebar navigation.
Your New Object Is Live
Once created, your custom object is immediately accessible from the main sidebar just like People, Companies, and Deals. You can start adding records, importing CSVs, and building filters right away.

The Products object now appears in the sidebar under Records. It has its own record list, filter options, + New Product button, and CSV import — ready to use.
Tip: After creating your custom object, head to its settings page to add custom fields, change the icon or color, and configure it further — just like you would for People or Companies.Frequently Asked Questions
How many custom objects can I create?
There is no hard limit on the number of custom objects you can create in Breakcold.
Can I delete a custom object?
Yes. Custom objects (unlike System objects) can be deleted from their settings page. Deleting an object also removes all its records — this action is irreversible.
Can I add custom fields to my new object?
Yes. After creating the object, open its settings page and use the + Add Field button in the Fields section to add any attributes you need.
Will my custom object appear in the sidebar for all workspace members?
Yes. Custom objects are workspace-wide and are visible to all members immediately after creation.
Can I rename or re-icon a custom object after creating it?
Yes. Click into the object's settings page at any time to update its name, slug, icon, color, or active status.
