How Notifications Work - Can you Tag Team Members in Convo & More
Yes — @mention teammates in notes, tasks, and conversations. Here's how the full notifications system works in Breakcold.
Overview
Breakcold has a unified Notifications hub where all alerts are collected — mentions, assignments, updates, and more. You can also @mention teammates anywhere text is supported (task notes, record notes, conversations) to send them a direct notification and loop them into context.
The Notifications Hub
- Click Notifications in the left sidebar to open the notification center.
- All your notifications appear in a list — click any notification to preview the linked resource on the right side.
- Use the filter icon to filter by Status (read/unread) or Type to find specific notifications quickly.
The Notifications hub — all alerts in one place, filterable by status and type. Click a notification to preview the linked record on the right.
Notification Types
Breakcold sends notifications for the following event types, which can be filtered in the hub and configured in your preferences:
Type | When you receive it |
|---|---|
Mentions | When a teammate @mentions you in a note, task, or conversation |
Assignments | When a task or record is assigned to you |
Record Owner Assignment | When you are set as the owner of a record (contact, company, deal) |
Updates | When a record you follow is updated |
Comments | When someone comments on a record or thread you're part of |
Reminders | Scheduled reminders you or a teammate have set |
System | Workspace-level system alerts (billing, enrichment status, etc.) |
AI Insights | AI-generated insights and suggestions about your records |

The Type filter — filter the notification hub to show only the type of alerts you're looking for.
Configuring Notification Preferences
You control which notifications you receive and through which channel — in-app or email — from the Notification Preferences panel.
- In the Notifications hub, click the settings/preferences icon (top right of the notifications panel).
- The Notification Preferences panel opens. For each notification type, toggle In App and Email independently.

Notification Preferences — configure each notification type independently for in-app and email delivery.
Tip — Turn off email notifications for high-volume types like Updates while keeping them on for Mentions and Assignments — so your inbox only gets the alerts that need your direct attention. How to @Mention Teammates
You can tag any teammate with @ in three places:
- Task notes — in the Notes field of any task
- Record notes — in the Notes tab of any contact, company, deal, or custom object
- Conversations — in the reply/internal note area of a record's conversation panel
In all three places, the mechanic is the same: type @ followed by the teammate's name → a dropdown appears → select them. They receive a Mention notification instantly.
@mention in task notes — type @ to trigger the mention picker. The tagged teammate receives an immediate notification.

@mention in a record conversation — tag teammates directly in the conversation thread to loop them in with full context.
Internal notes — When @mentioning in a conversation reply, use the Note tab (vs Reply) so the message is only visible to your team and not sent to the contact.Frequently Asked Questions
Does an @mention send an email too?
It depends on the recipient's Notification Preferences. If they have Email enabled for Mentions, yes — they'll receive both an in-app notification and an email.
Can I @mention someone who isn't in the workspace?
No — @mention only works for teammates who are members of your Breakcold workspace. External contacts cannot be tagged this way.
Where can I see all notifications in one place?
Click Notifications in the left sidebar. All notification types are collected here and can be filtered by status (read/unread) or type.
Can I turn off all email notifications?
Yes — go to Notification Preferences and disable the Email toggle for every type. You'll still receive in-app notifications unless those are also turned off.
Can I mark notifications as read?
Yes — use the Status filter to view unread notifications, and click through them to mark them as read. A bulk mark-all-as-read option is available via the actions menu (•••) in the notifications header.
